From 1956, Perry is joined by Martha Davis and Calvin Ponder, whose musical comedy act, “Martha Davis Spouse,“ enjoyed great popularity in the late 1940s and 1950s. Sadly, Davis -- an immensely talented pianist -- died just four years after this performance at the age of 42 from cancer. The song “I’m Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter“ was written in 1935 by Fred E. Ahlert and Joe Young.
