Elon Musk Plans To Send Drones On Mars!

Elon Musk Plans To Send Drones On Mars! “Good news today: We’ve reestablished contact with the Mars helicopter after instructing @NASAPersevere to perform long-duration listening sessions for Ingenuity’s signal,” tweeted NASA. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, responded, “Great.“ A “bittersweet“ ending for the Mars helicopter that defied the odds for years. And so, in today’s episode, let’s explore the legacy of the first vehicle on another planet to accomplish powered, controlled flight. Hey folks! NASA’s Mars Perseverance rover arrived on the red planet carrying a significant amount of valuable cargo. One of the newest pieces of technology is the Ingenuity helicopter, a drone that is the first in history to fly on another planet. Ingenuity is essentially a test flight. Even though it barely weighs around 4 pounds, its accomplishments undoubtedly open the door for more extensive research on the red planet. “The Wright Brothers showed that powered flight in Earth’s atmosphere was possible, using an experimental aircraft,“ said Håvard Grip, chief pilot of Ingenuity at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), in a statement. “With Ingenuity, we’re trying to do the same for Mars.“ The rover does not carry any science instruments to assist Perseverance and is considered a completely independent mission from the rover. It remained within Perseverance’s stomach until the two landed on Mars. Flying on Mars vs. Earth Since Mars’ atmosphere is 99% less dense than Earth’s, it is challenging for Ingenuity to generate enough lift for safe flight. It has been made to be incredibly lightweight as a result. Its height is only 19 inches. The helicopter is substantially faster than normal helicopters on Earth because of its two rotors, which span approximately 4 feet and spin at a rate of 2,400 revolutions per minute. The helicopter has four large carbon-fiber blades. Furthermore, it is very cold in the Jezero Crater, where Perseverance landed; at night, the temperature can dip as low as minus 130 degrees Fahrenheit. Rather than being used for actual flying, Ingenuity’s power is largely directed at keeping warm. JPL flight controllers will not have control over Ingenuity while it is in flight. Commands will be sent ahead of flights due to considerable communication delays; the team won’t know the outcome of the flight until it’s over. It will be up to ingenuity to decide for itself how to stay warm and fly. Mars 2020 deputy project manager at JPL Matt Wallace stated at a press conference, “This is a technology that’s really going to open up a new exploration modality for us, very much like the rovers did 20 years ago when we flew Sojourner on the first mission to Mars.“ While Ingenuity has two cameras of its own, Perseverance carries over two dozen. In addition to aerial photos from the helicopter itself, we will get a firsthand look at Ingenuity’s test flights from the rover’s point of view here on Earth. However, NASA’s Ingenuity helicopter project has come to an end after three years and seventy-two remarkable flights on Mars. _ Join this channel to get access to perks: #elonmusk #spacex #starship #ingenuity #nasa #starshipupdate #spacexlaunch _ Hope you guys enjoy this! 👉 If you enjoy this video, please like it and share it. 👉 Don’t forget to subscribe to this channel for more updates.
