Dog brought back to life by CPR performed by Sterling, IL police officer

Bodycam footage released by the Sterling IL Police Department in January 2024 shows a dramatic rescue of a dog on New Year’s Eve. Sterling Police officer Alex Kraus pulled a dog named Shango from a house fire in Sterling around 5 a.m. on Dec. 31, 2023. Officer Justin Hackbarth began performing chest compressions on the dog until its breathing restarted. The dog is recovering and doing well, according to its owner.
