The new green busstops in Utrecht: ‘bee stops’

The roofs of more then 300 bus stops in the Dutch city of Utrecht have been covered in plants. Green roofs help with the capture of fine dust, which improves the air quality. The bee is an endangered species in the Netherlands and elsewhere in Europe. They are very important for the eco-system. At this moment 316 bus stops have green roofs in Utrecht. There is worldwide interest in these ’bee stops’. The municipality has no costs for the purchase, and also no costs for the management and maintenance.
