Mercedes-Benz Dusseldorf plant celebrated a significant milestone: the commencement of production for the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter. This momentous occasion was marked with an event attended by employees and special guests. The event included esteemed guests like Armin Laschet, the Minister President of North Rhine-Westphalia, and Thomas Geisel, the Lord Mayor of the state capital Dusseldorf. They acknowledged not only the importance of this step but also Mercedes-Benz’s unwavering commitment to its Dusseldorf facility. Dr. Armin Willy, Site Representative and Head of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Dusseldorf, played host, welcoming the guests and employees, along with Marcus Breitschwerdt, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans, and Ingo Ettischer, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans Operations. Mercedes-Benz has been producing its globally acclaimed vans in Dusseldorf since 1962. Over the years, the plant has continuously evolved and recently became the leading Sprinter production facility worldwide, setting the standard for other locations. The incorporation of forward-looking technologies and production methods, along with rigorous testing, benefits the entire Mercedes-Benz Vans production network. Dusseldorf has seen over 4.6 million vehicles roll off its production lines to date. Since 2018, it has also been manufacturing the new Sprinter, with over 200,000 units already delivered for service across the globe. The introduction of the fully electric eSprinter represents a new chapter in Dusseldorf’s history.
