These were the years where the motorsport of rally really saw fast paced evolution within cars, as well as driver skills. The cars were beginning to get increasingly rapid, to the point where the drivers had mentioned they simply cannot keep up with the vehicle’s performance. Vehicles that were turbocharged and supercharged (some cars were both turbo and supercharged) were known to reach unspeakable numbers nearing the 1000bhp mark on over 5 bars of boost, near the very end of Group B .This unfortunately lead to fatal accidents, car manufacturers began pulling out of the rally class leading to the ultimate demise of Group B. As for many, this era of motorsport truly remains within our hearts and is remembered as the golden age of rally.
