And amidst all this clownery, I somehow forgot that a little more than four years ago in Russia a truly new, cool, hair-raising and very spectacular format of martial arts was born. Unfortunately, the matter was limited to one single tournament, although the potential of these competitions, in my opinion, was simply cosmic. On December 1, 2018, the Thermopyle Team Combat team fighting tournament, popularly dubbed Sparta after the name of the feature film of the same name, took place in St. Petersburg.
