Svora - Verta Ja Sukset (full ep, 2023)

Self-termed ‘raw and punked’ black metal that deals with war and pain, loss and grief and the oppressive march of conflict; with rhythms pacing the footsteps of soldiers towards the horrors of their fate. Perhaps it makes sense that this has been a staple of my running soundtracks over the last couple of months. A collaboration between three mysterious, monogrammed Finnish and Russian artists Privates L, D and V, Svoras deliver a menacing yet melodic battery of tracks in this half hour ep, with a gruff savage vocal performance that well-plays on the broken-throated terror of the trenches, ducking and weaving towards a thunderously climactic track, all sewn together with something melancholic at the heart of it. The album was self-released at the end of 2022, and is now receiving a cassette edition through Canti Eretici Productions.
