Almost Famous - The Real Lives of Groupies

Almost Famous (well, Untitled - the director’s cut of it) is my fav movie. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to peel back the curtain of 70’s teenager nostalgia on an infamous time in Rock and Roll and talk about the behind the scenes. Penny Lane, well, Kate Hudson’s portrayal, captured everyone at the time and was and still is many people’s wardrobe inspirations but she’s actually based on real people. Everyone in the movie is honestly, though it is a sanitized version of the truth. As you know, here we like to uncover the reality, and we’re doing just that with groupies, talking about some of their lives, the attitudes of rockstars, and how this way of life got corrupted not only by business but by exploitative super stars.
