Russia accidentally shell its own troops for two hours mistaking them for Ukranian soldiers

Russia accidentally shelled its own troops for two hours to the north of Bakhmut. Radio chatter intercepted by Ukraine back in July captured the friendly fire. It happened while troops of Ukraine’s 30th Brigade were on the attack. They had advanced to within 200m of the Russians when shells began falling. But Russian commanders had mistaken their own troops for the enemy. Desperate radio messages reveal how Russian soldiers begged for the attack to stop. But the Ukrainians blocked their cries for help and so the shelling continued. Kyiv’s troops waited for the bombardment to stop, then took the Russian positions. Ukraine has been steadily advancing on the flanks of Bakhmut since July. The aim is to pin down Russian defenders in the city and kill as many as possible. That will help other attacks in the south of Ukraine to break Russian lines. #dailymail #russia #ukrainewar Daily Mail Homepage: Daily Mail Facebook:
