Listening decoding 01 Introduction

I was to have given a workshop at the IATEFL conference in Manchester in April 2020. But it was cancelled. The workshop was to have been my last as an active member of the ELT profession. So instead of the workshop, I have made four videos of the contents of the workshop. This is the first, which explains the rationale for the demonstration activities which are to follow in the remaining three videos.
