Silksong is Being Developed in Unity

Unity, a popular game development engine, put out a notice that they’d be changing their monetization model, and rather than asking for just licensing fees, they’d be charging developers per install with a scheme that seemed impossible to implement, totally opaque, and very easy for malicious actors to “install bomb“ and cost developers tons of money. It’s the latest in a series of bizarrely shortsighted moves in the business world lately. They’ve backpedaled on a lot of it, but for many developers, the bridge has been burned. Team Cherry has not put out any kind of a statement about it, but one of their developers did like a tweet joking that they’d have to change engines. So for now we’re just having a nervous chuckle. Surely they’ll announce it at the Nintendo Direct, right? RIGHT?! Music courtesy of Tom Jones, composed by Stephen Sondheim. I couldn’t get the Sinatra version, sorry. :(
