Barrage V Shell (1914-1918)

Barrage V Shells - anti-aircraft defence v women munition workers at comic football match. Location of events unknown - somewhere in Britain. Shot of line of young women in long white sweaters; shorts; and berets; walking onto the football pitch toward camera. Match in progress with girls running on the field. The men playing wear skirts and top hats or other funny hats! Shot of both teams in a row; linking arms; trotting around; doing a sort of line dance (looks like the hokey cokey but I don’t think it had been invented at this time! - SL). Then some Army - uniformed men run along with a stretcher and a flag of England. Shot of the guy sitting on the stretcher; with the stretcher bearers standing still; a pretty young nurse stands by him; laughing; with some sort of small bottle (which I doubt is real medicine); injured athlete puts his arm round the nurse for a moment. Cut to shot of the men in drag team in a row. See also ON 076 D. Silly; wacky; sports; comedy. FILM ID: A VIDE
