Gulli Briem performs his own composition “Ocean“ live on stage at the Yamaha Drum Show Paris. This live performance was recorded on Sunday, 26th June 2022. As a child, Gulli started banging on pots and pans on the kitchen floor of the family home in Reykjavik, and got his first Yamaha drum kit at the age of 11. He studied classical percussion and music theory at the FIH Jazz conservatory in Reykjavik 1980-1983 and at The Musicians Institute in Los Angeles – and in 1983, he landed his first international hit “Garden Party” with his band Mezzoforte. He has also played for greats like Madonna and Miami Sound Machine – for him, music has always had the highest priority, and this passion is reflected in his playing.
