The Sleep of Reason - Shelters Are Melting - 1985
The Sleep of Reason was a post-punk South Florida band from the mid-80s. The song “Shelters Are Melting“ was on heavy rotation on WVUM, the University of Miami’s radio station and WFIT, Florida Tech’s station in Melbourne, Florida.
This video was filmed on the set of Florida International University’s production of West Side Story the night before the set was taken down. Low-budget to be sure but it was a lot of fun to do. We started filming around 7 in the evening and finished around 7 the following morning.
Look for the scenes shot in Pop’s Drugstore, the bridal shop, Maria’s bedroom and by the overpass.
Personnel:
Oscar Herrera - lead vocals
Kevin Janosky (Kevin MacBeth) - guitar and vocals
