Emy Koopman investigates the equality struggle between men and women in Canada. With a self-proclaimed feminist prime minister, a cabinet full of female ministers, and gender-neutral toilets everywhere, the country seems extraordinarily progressive. But how is it possible that there have already been two attacks in Canada specifically against women? The ’Toronto of attack’ in 2018 claimed the lives of ten people. The perpetrator claimed to belong to the ’incels’, an online group of heavily frustrated men, who involuntarily run out of sex and blame women for it. How can such misogyny flourish in Canada, and what is being done about it? Koopman joins male feminists in heels and female boxers, but also speaks self-help guru and psychology professor Jordan Peterson, who became known for his criticism of contemporary feminism. Is Canada polarising?
