How to bind bamboo shakuhachi, bindings for crack repair by Josen (Jon Kypros)

I made this video for those that wish to try their hand at binding cracks in bamboo, specifically shakuhachi. I’ve also added a new trick I’ve come up with here but it only works when using the methods outlined here with the vise pliers: (more at content at ) Tools/materials -Cord – nylon or poly dia. minimum (tex 210) about 3 yards per binding -Razor knife -Locking Forceps – teeth covered with electrical tape -Locking vise pliers/grips – teeth coated in hot glue -Glue or lacquer to finish/seal binding(s) (epoxy is best)
