At least eight people have gone missing as a result of a magnitude 7.6 earthquake that struck eastern Papua New Guinea.
According to the Papua New Guinea Disaster Management Team, the earthquake struck at a depth of 61 km and was felt throughout the country. Including in the capital, Port Moresby, where moderate to severe shaking was felt for more than a minute.
Although the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami alert, the threat was later lifted.
