Donors to the Chernobyl Shelter Fund have welcomed news that the New Safe Confinement being built to protect damaged Reactor 4 and support long-term decommissioning is on schedule to be slid into position in November this year. The New Safe Confinement weighs more than 37,000 tonnes and is the largest moveable land-based object ever constructed.
