Game Recap: Penguins vs. Bruins () | Mike Matheson’s Beautiful Goal

In recent years, the Penguins have had a tough time when they headed to Boston to take on the Bruins. In fact, the Penguins have gone 0-8-2 in Boston dating back to Dec. 16, 2015, But, as Zach Aston-Reese said in his post-game media availability, “I know a lot guys changed things up and got coffees at different spots and things like that. So definitely, we were trying to do everything we could to snap that streak.” Aston-Reese himself got the scoring started in the 2nd period, followed up by a tremendous individual effort by Mike Matheson. Brad Marchand got the Bruins on the board in the 3rd, but Jason Zucker answered right back after a nice move and pass from Evan Rodrigues. Jake Guentzel finished things off with an empty-netter, and Casey DeSmith stopped 30 of 31 shots. Entering tonight’s contest, DeSmith’s .929 save percentage ranked 2nd in the NHL behind only Andrei Vasilevskiy (.930). SUBSCRIBE to be among the first to see new Penguins content by clicking here:
