When Do Nothing’s debut album ‘Snake Sideways’ arrives this summer, it’ll be a moment of many culminations. Since 2018, the Nottingham quartet has been single by single building itself into a strong and distinct UK rock presence. Initial release “Handshake” harkened to a smart scallawaggery in the vein of Parquet Courts, Arctic Monkeys, and Blur. Next year’s “Lebron James” found frontman Chris Bailey screaming about the value of having dinner with the NBA superstar over a few angular guitar riffs. Bailey counts LCD Frontman James Murphy as a main inspiration, and the band’s live show is so captivating that Interpol once tabbed them as openers. ‘Snake Sideways’ - which comes June 30th to be precise - is the product of a much longer musical journey between Bailey and bandmates Kasper Sandstrom, Charlie Howarth and Andy Harrison, who have all known each since their early teens. At one point, Bailey confessed his trepidation about a debut album. “It’s a head fuck for me, because I massively over-think things,” he once told an interviewer.
