This video shows the view from the observation deck on the roof of the South Tower of the former World Trade Center in New York City in 1994.
I visited New York City in 1994. And on this particular day I took a tour with the Circle Line, which is a ship that sails around the entire Island of Manhattan. Which is totally wonderful. I think it still exists today.
And then I went to visit the former World Trade Center, which doesn’t exist anymore today. Which is very tragic.
Now the view from the observation deck was fabulous, it was magic. The observation deck was on the roof, and that was at a height of Feet, which is 415 meters. I visited the tower on a clear day and the view was easily 30 miles.
Looking down you could see the skyscrapers and the busy streets of south Manhattan, and right in front of you was Mid-Manhattan with the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building. It was fantastic.
Now, unfortunately, I couldn’t afford quality camera’s in those days. And the videos were recorded on tape that slowly declined over the years, So my apologies for the poor image quality.
At the same time I am very happy to see that this material is still preserved and viewable, even after being moved from one attic to the other for the past 30 years.
Now the most eerie images are those of the interior of this tower that unfortunately no longer exists. I will switch of the music, and I will remain silent, so that you can experience the interior of the former World Trade Center, as it really was. I think that was actually the escalator making that heavy squeaking noise...
