Ave Maria - Anna Netrebko as Desdemona in Verdi’s Otello

Anna Netrebko’s fabulous and unique rendition of Verdi’s “Ave Maria“ from Otello ( CD: Sempre libera 2004, Deutsche Grammophon ) Claudio Abbado and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra are excellent, too. Anna has the voice of an angel and is capable of expressing her deep and true emotions through her phenomenal voice. She exactly knows the anguish of mind having lost a beloved member of her family recently ( 2 years prior to the recordings ) Anna’s pure, crystalline and colourful bel canto singing leaves me stunned every time I listen to it and the whole world should be deeply grateful to “have“ her.
