“Te Deum“ - Trinity sunday / Gud vår Gud vi lovar dig - Heliga Trefaldighets dag

Today we Lutherans celebrate the Feast of the Holy Trinity. “Te Deum“ - was written by Bishop Ambrose of Milan in the year 387. Translated into Swedish by Archbishop Laurentius Petri Nericius during the reformation period. The church depicted in this video is Habo church, in Jönköping - called the “Wooden cathedral by lake Vättern“. The church was built in 1680, during the peak of Lutheran Orthodoxy in Sweden. And should, if anything, demonstrate that we Lutherans have never been and never will be iconoclasts. Art and beauty are an integral part of our tradition. The chruch demonstrates an interesting mix of Scandinavian folk art from the 17th and 18th centuries and more classical styles.
