Israeli ultranationalists spit at Christians carrying cross through Jerusalem

Israeli ultranationalists on their way to Jerusalem to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Sukkot were filmed spitting on a group of Christian worshippers who were carrying a cross through the streets. Assaults against Christians of all denominations and vandalism against Christian holy sites by Jewish extremists in Jerusalem are common, and have reportedly increased in recent years. The head of the Roman Catholic Church warned that the rise of Israel’s far-right government has made life worse for Christians and emboldened such Jewish extremists.
