KISS lights up the Empire State Building in farewell tribute ahead of final shows

In advance of their final show at Madison Square Garden, legendary rock band KISS lit up the iconic Empire State Building in New York on Thursday (November 30). This marks the lead-up to KISS’s grand finale performances, part of their “End of the Road World Tour,“ an epic journey that commenced on Jan. 31, 2019, at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada. The tour is slated to culminate on Dec. 1 and Dec. 2 with a historic farewell at MSG. KISS’s two original members -- singer and guitarist Paul Stanley, 71, and bassist and singer Gene Simmons, 74 -- plus guitarist Tommy Thayer, 63, and drummer Eric Singer, 65, said they kicked off their farewell concert tour four years ago because they wanted to say goodbye while they could still deliver the over-the-top performances that have thrilled audiences over a 50-year career. “All things must pass, all things move on,“ said Stanley. “The end of one thing is the beginning of another. KISS isn’t going to leave. KISS is part of the fabric of this country and most of the world, so even if we wanted to stop it, we couldn’t.“ “To us, it’s going to be very emotional soon,“ said Simmons. “We’re glibly talking, giving you sound bites and everything. But I’m sure in two days, we’re going to be crying like 12-year-old girls whose feet are being stepped on.“ The band has sold more than 100 million albums. “Our life is amazing, and this is just another example of, if you can dream it and work hard, you can make something happen,“ said Stanley. “Dreaming means nothing unless you apply it. And that’s where hard work comes in. Everything is possible with hard work and you’ll find out how much something means to you, by how hard you’re willing to work to achieve it. We’re here 50 years later and we call the shots.“ Known for their makeup, big hair and outrageous costumes, KISS was among the biggest acts of the 1970s, coming out of the glam rock era with hits including “Rock and Roll All Nite.“ ........................................................................................
