While working in the Amazon my curiosity blinded my sense of judgement. In an effort to make an Anaconda bite a stick I was attacked. The snake was maybe 14’ long, and inches from my thigh. My reflexes literally saved my life, and spared me a gruesome death characterized by drowning, full body constriction, and being swallowed whole. Alas, death was evaded, and my genes will carry on if not defeated by another snake encounter in the future. I’m on borrowed time, and my next encounter may not be so lucky.
