Strong Solar Flare R2 Radio Blackout and Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) - December 14. 2023.

Growing sunspot region 3514 produced a moderately strong M5.8 solar flare this morning at 07:44 UTC. Extreme ultraviolet radiation ionized the top of Earth’s dayside atmosphere producing a shortwave radio blackout (R2 moderate) over India, Indian Ocean and South Africa. This event is responsible for a coronal mass ejection (CME) that so far appears mostly directed to the west. Updated coronagraph imagery will be required to determine if an Earth directed component is associated.
