The Shire [UE4]

Artstation link: Twitter: I’ve always been fascinated by The Shire in The Lord of the Rings. Tolkien based The Shire on a place fairly close to where I was born, so I’ve always felt an affinity for the place both in the books and in the film. In a way it takes me back to my childhood, exploring the forests and hills nearby. I wanted to pay homage to it with my knowledge of environment art and UE4. This is a project I started late last year but put on the backburner. After playing AC: Valhalla, I felt inspired to pick it up again! This was a fun project for me, having worked on Subnautica for a while now which has more limited technical specs. It was nice to work with UE4 again and mess around with the latest features. I’m using Truesky for this project, as well as Speedtree and a limited use of Megascan overlays for some wood and stone materials.
