The Nicholas Brothers and Cab Calloway in Stormy Weather

I’ve never been all that happy with my original upscale of this routine - and I think I’ve managed to improve on it significantly - I’m much happier with this one. The Nicholas Brothers were two of the greatest tap dancers of all time - and Fred Astaire described this sequence as “the greatest dancing he had ever seen on film“. It’s the Nicholas Brothers at their peak, combined with the amazing talents of Cab Calloway and his Orchestra - song and dance just doesn’t come any better than this. We were lucky enough to be at a talk given by Fayard Nicholas in Herrang around 2005 - and along with so many fascinating memories and anecdotes that he gave us, he told us that the answer to the question that everyone always asked him was: “Yes. It hurt.“ Those insane splits came at a cost... If you enjoy this clip - do check out the film Stormy Weather - it’s a great film, showcasing a whole wealth of amazing singers and dancers.
