Celebrating 75 Years of India’s Independence: Bande Mataram | Sri Chinmoy Int’l. Choir

On August 15, 2022, India celebrated 75 years since its independence from British colonial rule. On August 27, at the Aspiration-Ground meditation gardens in Jamaica Hills, Queens, New York, an international group of singers, musicians and actors performed several of Sri Chinmoy’s songs, including “Bande Mataram, Mother I Bow to Thee“, which honors India’s National Anthem. ‘Bande Mataram’ is a poem written in 1875 by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee that means “Mother, I bow to thee” or “I praise to thee, Mother”.
