Symarip - Skinhead Moonstomp (Official Audio)

Official audio for Symarip’s skinhead anthem from 1969 Formed in the mid-Sixties by seven young British-based musicians of Afro-Caribbean descent, Symarip first made their mark as the Bees, supporting Prince Buster on a nationwide tour in 1967. Soon after, the group was signed to President, changed their name to the Pyramids and found UK chart success with ‘Train Tour To Rainbow City’. By the close of the decade they were recording under a number of aliases, notably the Seven Letters and Symarip, and it was as the latter that they achieved their greatest UK success, ‘Skinhead Moonstomp’. Greatly inspired by Derrick Morgan’s ‘Moon Hop’, which made the British pop charts early in 1970, the recording became the most successful record of all time to name-call skinheads, the UK youth movement who widely embraced the exciting new reggae sound sfrom Jamaica, so proving instrumental in introducing the genre into mainstream British consciousness.
