Statler, a 33 year old injured bat that still believes he can fly | Statler bat

Statler is an elderly fruit bat whose best flying days are behind him. But the team at bat world still gives this senior citizen a thrill by holding him up so he can fly. They even have a bowl of fruit he can dive into just like the old days. These bats are treated better than the elderly in our country during a pandemic. Statler lives in bat world’s “geribatric” ’s made friends with a few other elderly bats in the ward and they share a hammock together. Statler has arthritis and one eye. Bats in the wild live on average 5-6 years. In captivity that’s extended to around 20 years. Statler here is 33 years old! #statler #bat
