What Women Wore | 1930’s Fashion

1930 fashion reflected a new sense of femininity. Was it merely a triumph of the dress makers? Who can tell. But the hemline fell to the ankle and waist returned to normal. To look as slim as a may pole in the 1930’s, entailed wearing lingerie that was reduced to nothing. Just a caress. Despite the change in line, the continuing trend in ready to wear fashions, went on. For 1930s sportswear, women at last wore garments that were sensible. Detachable skirts for skating. Beach clothes that were easily discarded. And 1930s swimsuits that were entirely suited to swimming. Created in 1960 by the Central Office of Information, sponsored by The Board of Trade.
