SPANISH NAVY’S ISAAC PERAL (S-81), THE LARGEST NON-NUCLEAR SUBMARINES #Spain #S81 #Submarine

The Spanish Navy’s new submarine, Isaac Peral (S-81), is being christened in Cartagena, Spain. Cost about a whopping $ billion, the S-81 is one of the largest non-nuclear submarines in the world and promises to be a significant step up for the Spanish Navy. The S-80 Plus class (or Isaac Peral) is a Spanish class of four submarines—late-1990s design, initial production order in 2003, redesign and rebuild in mid-2010s, and currently in production—built by the state-owned Spanish company Navantia in its Cartagena shipyard for the Spanish Navy.
