LIVE: PM Modi At First India-Hosted SCO Summit; Putin, Xi, Sharif in Attendance

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a virtual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). Chinese president Xi Jinping, Russian president Vladimir Putin and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will also join the virtual summit. This comes days after PM Modi’s visit to the U.S. and the rebellion led by the Wagner Group in Russia. The SCO is a rare international grouping in which Russia still enjoys support. Spearheaded by China and Russia, the SCO seeks to present an alternative to Western alliances, raising concerns about its expansion and relevance.
