I wrote a song for my dog who passed away

Only a dog owner knows what it’s like to lose one’s furry friend that’s been with you since childhood. The pain was almost unbearable when she passed away in early July, but writing this song for her felt like a proper goodbye. Thanks for growing up with me, Sheela, I’m who I am because of you. “I want you to know“ Thanks for growing up with me for a childhood full of memories like how you jumped at me so hard I fell when I stood in the door and how you licked my face when I lay on the floor Like the 8 you drew with sprints in the yard and how you tore the water in the lake apart and how you used to say you wanted more by giving us your cutest roar Your wauwauwau will always stay in our hearts I want you to know I’m who I am because of you You gave me so much love that hate could never win I want you to know That you will live insede of us where yours might end, another story will begin and as you go ascend, brave soul there’s one thing I want you to know you made this place a home Thanks for cuddles in my lowest lows for every heartbreak’s wound you helped me close When you bit my ear so gently like you wanted to say “I’m here“ before I cried a single tear, you’d know -Chorus- It’s like no word I could speak is enough but I hope you still feel how much you’re loved when you felt my head as i lay lown on your chest I loved every heartbeat until the very last
