Visit Visit our website This promotional film trailer from 1963 titled “The March Of Time: The Making Of The President 1960” acted as a trailer for the then upcoming March Of Time television special from Wolper Productions and Time Life Incorporated. The series shares its name with the original award winning March Of Time special which was an American newsreel series sponsored by Time Inc. and shown in movie theaters from 1935 to 1951. It was based on a radio news series broadcast from 1931 to 1945. The “voice“ of both series was Westbrook Van Voorhis. Produced and written by Louis De Rochemont and his brother Richard De Rochemont The March of Time was recognized with an Academy Honorary Award in 1937. This trailer opens with the footage from John F. Kennedy’s assassination in Downtown Dallas which acts as the backdrop to the upcoming theme of latest in the series - “a documentary TV series to capture the dynamic pulse of the 60s.” Weaved into this film are different scenes from other shows produced by Wolper Productions known for their documentary specials and cutting edge film technology.
