Five years ago climate activist Greta Thunberg tweeted out a prediction, ostensibly from a noted climate scientist, declaring that if fossil fuel use is not ended within five years, humanity would be doomed. She has since deleted the tweet. But whether Thunberg was insisting that our species would be wiped out by today (fossil fuel use has increased in the past five years) or that this would be the point of no return for humanity, it appears the prediction was inaccurate.
