Mass produced humanoid robots to go on sale next year

For those of you thinking ‘I like ChatGPT, but where are its arms and legs?’, there is finally some good news. The boffins at Shanghai-based Fourier Intelligence have been able to develop a humanoid robot that is not only capable of riding a VR boat (a world’s first, we think), but can walk like it really, really needs to go to the little androids’ room. And soon, you can buy one. The GR-1 is expected to go on sale next year, with the company mass producing the units. But in all seriousness, why would you need a humanoid robot? Fourier believes GR-1 has applications in rehabilitation (and also showed off an exoskeleton that aids walking as part of that application), but also in industrial, scientific, and even residential applications. It also has a ‘functional module’ that helps it get out of the way of ambulances at traffic lights. Another world’s first, we think.
