Now at odds with each other, Napoleon keeps an army from Saxony to defend it. As soon as the Russians are seen approaching the territory, Saxony sends word to Napoleon to send reinforcements. With the help of troops from the Confederation of the Rhine, Napoleon orders Lannes and Ney to lead 3 corps to aid the fortification battling against the Russian Empire.
