Get Martel’s new album “Impersonator“ HERE: Video recorded by Crystal Martel () A couple of months ago, Crystal and I took a detour on our way home from one of her photo shoots to scope out a location for another upcoming shoot. It’s one of her favourite spots on Percy Priest Lake, not far from where we live, and she knew it would be perfect for the band she’d be shooting. To Crystal’s disappointment, when we arrived, the water level was so high that the large boulders she loves to use were completely submerged. Before we headed home, I saw an opportunity to skip a few rocks into the lake, because let’s face it — skipping rocks rocks. Being the visual artist that she is, Crystal instinctively began filming. That night, when I slowed down the footage on my computer, it immediately put me in mind of “Stalemate,” one of my favourite songs from Impersonator. It seemed to me a perfect little analogy for what the song is about. I decided then that I wanted to use the visual of skipping rocks and make a music video around that. So, we returned to the lake the next day and filmed me singing the song. Here’s my first attempt at a homemade music video, learning-curve and all! Thanks to my wife for her help, and inspiration. Couldn’t have done it without her.
