This is a cover of an Alexey Rybnikov song from the 1974 Soviet children’s sci-fi film The Big Space Journey. In the summer of 2011, we played a great Russian music festival, Afisha Picnic, and decided to play it there as a kind of site-specific one-off. We didn’t quite like our performance but really loved the song - so here, finally, is a proper recording. Julia, who speaks fluent Arabic but not a word of Russian, learned the words phonetically from the original.
