Subscribe to our channel! Dozens of protesters rallied against COVID-19 restrictions in place to curb the spread of the virus, in Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana neighbourhood on Friday. Protesters were wearing Brazilian flags, while carrying signs and banners condemning lockdown measures. “It’s ridiculous to be banned from our right to work. Any activity that brings sustenance to our homes is essential. So no lockdown on beaches, there is no COVID-19 there. Why do people who depend on the beach have to be at home,“ said Cristiano Vasconcelos, a demonstrator. “I believe there are many ways to see this, on the one hand the government helps people struggling with unemployment, but on the other hand I find it a bit ridiculous to not realise what we are going through - 2700 people are dying a day in average, so it’s quite hard to have things going back to normal,“ stated local Andreia Silva.
