They formed under the name Coven in 1985, but added the 6669 after they had a long hiatus. They added the 6669, because of a legal dispute and to avoid confusion with the psychedelic rock band Coven from Chicago. They released two demos and three full-length albums. Members of Coven 6669 in 1993 were guest musicians on El Duce’s Slave to Thy Master album.
