This NASA film shows the agency’s many accomplishments in the year 1969. Four Apollo missions are included; Apollo IX, X, the lunar landing mission Apollo XI and Apollo XII. It also includes the Mariner VI and VII missions. The first section shows the Mariners VII and VI which were unmanned space crafts flown within 2,000 miles of Mars (:57). Both of these took photographs of the surface of the red giant. Images captured from the Mariner VII follow (1:28). A polar cap on the planet’s surface is zoomed in on (1:38). Two orbiting solar observatories (2:02); OSO V and OSO VI, are shown as they are launched (2:07). They are then filmed taking close images of solar radiations (2:17).
