Making a hand forged Bowie Ka-Bar style knife

This video follows the making of an 8” bowie/kabar style knife. The knife was hand forged from 5160, and the guard and pommel are also made from 5160. It has a leather stacked handle, and hand made leather sheath. I made a knife similar to this one in honor of a fellow marine, Sgt. Marty Gonzalez, who passed away unexpectedly on November 28, 2020 as a result of numerous injuries he sustained in Fallujah, Iraq in 2004. I served with Marty, and I started making the knife the day I heard about his passing. I raffled the knife off and donated all of the money to a GoFundMe for Marty’s surviving wife and kids. I didn’t have a YouTube channel at the time, and I really wished I could have captured the process on video. The opportunity came up where someone wanted me to make them a similar knife, and so I documented that build in this video. At the time of posting this video, the GoFundMe page for Marty is still active, and any donations for his wife, Tawnee, and kids would be greatly appreciated.
