Follow me on Twitter @ Get Great Retro Scene News @ Developed and published by Electronic Arts in 1993 A 16-bit classic whichever way you look at it, the original Sega Genesis version of Desert Strike was a great game, but the Amiga version upped the ante with better graphics, better audio, and even bigger explosions! It’s a rare thing when the Amiga delivers a better experience than the consoles, but Desert Strike bucks the trend. No, it’s not as fast or as smooth, but the flight model and physics are more dynamic, offering a greater sense of momentum, and it plays brilliantly! If you want the best possible experience, play it on an AGA machine, like the A1200. It’s never going to offer silky-smooth scrolling because it’s not been designed that way, but the 14 Mhz 68020 CPU makes for a much more consistent experience. As for the longplay, I recorded this on an A500 OCS configuration for authenticity;
