Damn Small Linux Installation And First Look

In This Video We Are Looking At A live CD Linux distribution based on Debian and Knoppix. After a 12-year break (from 2012 to 2024), the Damn Small Linux project, known as Damn Small Linux, has been restarted as a DSL project. It is stated that the distribution is now based on Debian and antiX, with the goal of fitting on live media of 700 MB or less (so that it can be used in CD-ROM drives). Trying to have a functional and easy-to-use desktop despite its small size, the system has an almost complete desktop package, including office software, email client, PDF viewer, media players and FTP/SFTP client. It is stated that the Damn Small Linux (DSL) project has published a new development snapshot of the upcoming Damn Small Linux 2024 version, while the new version that updates the Dillo web browser is said to restore some missing icons and improve language support. While it is stated that the storage problem and annoying resizing error in XMMS has been fixed, it is said that DSL 2024 is focused on making it less RAM friendly. ► Subscribe me here : ► Follow me on Tumblr : ► Follow me on Twitter : ► Follow me on Pinterest : Click Here to Watch More Entertainment : ► Linux Videos : ► Buyer Guide Videos : ► Raspberry pi Videos : ► Review Videos : ► Mozilla Videos : ► Vpn Videos : ► Ipad Videos : ► Mac Os Videos : ——Subscribe to stay up to date with the channel! —— Make sure to subscribe to the channel & select the 🔔bell push notifications (click the 🔔BELL icon next to the subscribe button) to be notified immediately when I release a new video. ✅ BE SURE TO LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, AND TURN ON NOTIFICATIONS!!! For this RC, I focused on making DSL 2024 more low-RAM friendly. I developed a routine that bypasses Slimski and directly launches Xorg with settings that are less RAM-intensive. I also added EmelFM, a functional and low-RAM file manager, and the very lightweight icon manager Idesk. You will see new boot options: “low ram“ and “lower ram“. These modes both use a desktop menu that prioritizes lighter-weight application options. The results are impressive: the “low ram“ option boots to the desktop 30% faster and uses 20% less RAM with icons and Conky running. The “lower ram“ option boots 42% faster and uses 36% less RAM with no icons and no Conky. Additionally, I fixed the repository issue and an annoying resizing bug in XMMS.
