You are haunting me;

First and foremost, this video is dedicated to Marga! For all of her beautiful Helaegon fanart that I’ve become so obsessed with recently ♡ (It really is sublime, you can find her HotD art on Twitter under the handle ADHDinthe80s), and it is also dedicated to my dear friend Ash, for encouraging my obsession with this blursed pairing (To the chagrin of my other friends). I made a deliberate choice not to manip for them, and though I wish we had been given more scenes, a more generous portrayal of their relationship (Though thus far, we virtually have nothing), I did the best I could with what was at hand. I think Tom and Phia did wonderfully in their few, very sparse and very brief interactions, whatever they do with season two, will absolutely destroy me. Alicent and Viserys feature briefly because there is a sense that though Aegon and Helaena don’t share similar interests, are of very different temperaments, and would hardly be able to find a middle ground in conversation, they both share a sense of rejection, dislocation, or disconnect from both of their parents. They aren’t very happy at all, and though I prefer their book dynamic (Which is, again, sparse but hints at a little bit more unity in their relationship), I hope I expressed a fraction of their tragic dynamic adequately. In any world, Helaena and Aegon were meant to be very important in each other’s lives, whether as siblings or as spouses (AN ICK STATEMENT!). It is definitely a situation neither would’ve chosen to be placed in, but ultimately, I believe Aegon cares for Helaena, and she cares for him as well. Nowhere is that expressed more clearly than in the reactions to the death of Jaehaerys, and in Aegon’s insistence that Rhaenyra was never a queen, only his mother and Helaena were.
